Celui d'avoir la liberté de penser, de m'exprimer, de débattre, de critiquer sans le couperet. Celui d'être différent dans l'unité et de rester moi même, solitaire et solidaire. Celui enfin de pouvoir annoncer un Évangile de liberté sans être marginalisé ...

J'ai fait un rêve, et ce rêve devient réalité. "Le pape vous a rendu un grand service, m'a écrit quelqu'un. Vous allez pouvoir quitter votre palais, et vivre du Christ, avec lui, où il est"... A ce détail près que mon évêché d'Évreux n'était pas un palais, ce correspondant dit vrai : en me libérant contre mon gré, Rome m'offre plus que je n'osais l'espérer, bien plus qu'un diocèse, bien plus qu'un évêché. Elle m'offre Partenia."

Ich hatte einen Traum, und dieser Traum wurde Wirklichkeit. Jemand schrieb mir: „Der Papst hat Ihnen einen großen Dienst erwiesen. Sie können Ihren Palast verlassen um mit Christus zu leben, dort wo er ist“…, nur in einem Detail, dass mein Bischofsitz in Evreux ein Palast war, hatte der Briefschreiber nicht Recht. Da ich gegen meinen Willen abgesetzt wurde hat Rom mir mehr angeboten, als ich je gehofft hatte, und zwar nicht nur eine Diözese. Rom hat mir Partenia angeboten.“
